Independent JLR engine rebuilds and repairs, with collection from Billericay, Ramsden Heath and Wickford.
Don't Have Reg..?
Range Rover Garage is an independent JLR specialist dedicated to Range Rover, Land Rover and Jaguar engines. Billericay owners gain a dependable main dealer alternative, with factory-trained engineers who diagnose, rebuild and replace Ingenium, TDV6, SDV6 and TDV8 engines across Range Rover Sport, Velar, Discovery, Evoque and Defender models.
Our workshop is in Grays, Essex, a straightforward drive south of Billericay, and we collect vehicles from across the CM11 and CM12 postcode areas, including Ramsden Heath and Little Burstead, plus Wickford. Diagnostics and an itemised quote come first, and most rebuilds take 7 to 14 working days.
Mention Long Periods Unused
If the vehicle has been parked unused for several weeks, mention it when booking. Long periods standing can lead to flat batteries, sticking components and stale fuel, which sometimes produce symptoms resembling more serious engine faults.
Knocking that grows louder under load, falling oil pressure or blue smoke on start-up usually mean your Range Rover engine needs a full rebuild.
We strip, ultrasonically clean, machine and rebuild each engine with genuine OEM parts, then pressure-test and run it under load before return.
Lost power on the A127, a whistle under acceleration or blue smoke from the exhaust are typical signs of a failing Land Rover turbo.
We check the oil feed, boost hoses and actuator first, so your replacement turbocharger is not damaged by the same underlying fault.
If repair costs exceed your Defender's value, we supply and fit tested reconditioned engines matched carefully to its engine code.
Reconditioned units carry six months' warranty, and dealer-level cover of up to 24 months is also available.
Billericay owners can bring their vehicle straight to our Grays workshop as a walk-in or pre-booked appointment, or arrange collection from home, work or one of the surrounding villages. Our engineers are factory-trained on Range Rover, Land Rover and Jaguar engine systems only, fitting genuine or OEM-grade parts tested to original manufacturer specifications. You approve an itemised quote before any work begins and receive direct updates from our team until the vehicle is returned with full warranty documentation.
Collection Across Billericay and CM11–CM12
Our Services
Beyond rebuilds and replacements, our engineers repair specific engine faults on Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Evoque, Velar, Vogue, Discovery and Defender models for drivers across Billericay and south Essex.
A warning light on the A129, hesitation pulling away or sudden limp mode can each have several possible causes. Our engineers read live data with dealer-level equipment, confirm the fault physically and offer same-day diagnostics on most bookings.

A brief metallic rattle when starting from cold is one of the most common Range Rover engine problems, usually signalling timing chain stretch. We replace the chains, guides and tensioners together before the timing can jump and damage valves.

Overheating, coolant disappearing without a visible leak or a creamy deposit under the oil cap can all indicate head gasket failure. We pressure-test the cooling system and inspect the cylinder heads for warping before carrying out the repair.

Oil leaks, injector faults, sticking EGR valves and failed sensors can often be repaired without a rebuild. Our engineers address the specific problem, keeping costs proportionate, and test the engine thoroughly before your vehicle is returned to you.

For higher-mileage Discovery, Freelander and older Range Rover models, a tested second-hand engine can be the most economical route back on the road. We confirm full compatibility first, and every engine swap includes one month's warranty as standard.

Earlier Land Rover engines that rely on a timing belt need it renewed at the manufacturer's set interval. We complete scheduled and emergency belt changes, helping you avoid the valve and piston damage a snapped belt can cause.
Explore More"Our Range Rover Sport had a rough idle and a hissing sound from the engine bay. They found a split PCV hose and a cracked intake boot, replaced both with genuine parts and confirmed the idle was smooth afterwards."
Russell Grey
"My Discovery Sport had sat on the drive for six weeks and then ran poorly. Their diagnostics found a weak battery and stale fuel rather than an engine fault, which they explained before suggesting what to do."
Joanne Pierce
"Updates on my Jaguar XE's turbo repair were frequent and specific. They sent a written quote, explained what had caused the failure and checked with me before ordering a replacement oil feed line."
Martin Coyle
"Ramsden Heath isn't the easiest place to get a lift from, so collection made sense for our Defender 90. It was picked up on the agreed morning and returned the following week with the paperwork explained."
