Independent JLR engine rebuilds and repairs, a straight run from Dagenham along the A13.
Don't Have Reg..?
Range Rover Garage is an independent JLR specialist devoted entirely to Range Rover, Land Rover and Jaguar engines. Dagenham owners get a straightforward main dealer alternative, with factory-trained engineers who know the Ingenium, TDV6, SDV6 and TDV8 engines fitted to Evoque, Discovery, Defender, Velar and Range Rover Sport models.
Our Grays workshop sits further east along the A13, so you can visit as a walk-in or book collection across the RM8 to RM10 postcode areas, plus Barking, Chadwell Heath and Rush Green. Diagnostics and an itemised quote come first, and most rebuilds take 7 to 14 working days.
Use the Correct Oil
Land Rover and Range Rover engines need oil meeting specific JLR specifications. If you have topped up recently, note the brand and grade used, as the wrong oil can affect timing chains, turbochargers and emissions components over time.
A knocking bottom end, heavy oil use or blue smoke at start-up usually mean internal wear that requires a complete Land Rover engine rebuild.
We strip, ultrasonically clean and machine every engine, rebuild it with genuine OEM parts, then pressure-test and run it under load before return.
Overheating in A13 traffic, regular coolant top-ups or white vapour after warm-up are common signs of head gasket failure on Range Rovers.
We pressure-test the cooling system, check the cylinder heads for warping and cracks, and repair before further engine damage develops.
If repairs would cost more than your Defender is worth, we supply and fit tested reconditioned engines matched to its engine code.
Reconditioned units carry six months' warranty, with dealer-level cover of up to 24 months also available.
With our Grays workshop a direct run along the A13, Dagenham owners can call in without an appointment or let us collect from home or work. Every vehicle is handled by factory-trained engineers who work only on Range Rover, Land Rover and Jaguar engine systems, using genuine or OEM-grade parts tested to original manufacturer specifications. You approve an itemised quote before any work begins, receive direct updates from our team throughout the job and get full warranty documentation on completion.

Our Services
Beyond rebuilds and replacements, our engineers repair specific engine faults on Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Evoque, Velar, Vogue, Discovery and Defender models for owners across Dagenham and east London.
Limp mode on the A13, a flashing warning light or a lumpy idle at junctions can stem from several possible faults. Our engineers read live data with dealer-level equipment, confirm the cause physically and offer same-day diagnostics on most bookings.

A brief rattle when starting from cold is a well-known Range Rover common fault, often linked to timing chain stretch and overdue oil changes. We replace chains, guides and tensioners together, helping prevent jumped timing and valve damage.
Explore More
Sluggish acceleration, a whistle that rises with revs or blue smoke under load can point to a failing turbocharger. We check oil feed, boost pipework and actuator before fitting a replacement, so the original fault does not shorten its life.

Many faults, from oil leaks and injector problems to sticking EGR valves and failed sensors, can be put right without a rebuild. Targeted repairs keep your costs proportionate, and every engine is tested thoroughly before it is returned.

For higher-mileage Discovery, Freelander and older Range Rover models, a tested second-hand engine can be the most practical, budget-conscious route back on the road. We confirm full compatibility first, and engine swaps carry one month's warranty as standard.

Some earlier Land Rover engines use a timing belt that must be replaced at the manufacturer's recommended interval. We complete scheduled and emergency belt changes, protecting your engine from the valve and piston damage a snapped belt can cause.
Explore More"Our Freelander 2 was smoking on start-up and the oil level kept dropping between services. They found worn valve stem seals, replaced them with genuine parts and explained why a full rebuild wasn't needed at this stage."
Wayne Brooks
"My Range Rover Sport showed an engine warning on the A13 near Dagenham Heathway. The diagnostics revealed a leaking boost pipe clamp rather than turbo failure, and they explained exactly what the fault codes meant before quoting."
Kelly Osborne
"When the turbo on my Jaguar F-Type needed replacing, they explained the work clearly and sent an itemised breakdown before starting. I had updates by phone throughout, and the final bill matched what we'd agreed."
Marcus Bell
"We only have one car between us in Rush Green, so collection for the Discovery 5 made sense. It was picked up after the school run, and they dropped it back the following week with the paperwork explained."
