Independent JLR engine rebuilds and repairs, with collection from Southend, Westcliff and Leigh-on-Sea.
Don't Have Reg..?
Range Rover Garage is an independent JLR specialist working exclusively on Range Rover, Land Rover and Jaguar engines. Southend owners gain a dependable main dealer alternative, with factory-trained engineers who diagnose, rebuild and replace Ingenium, TDV6, SDV6 and TDV8 engines across Vogue, Velar, Evoque, Discovery and Defender models.
Our workshop is in Grays, Essex, a direct run along the A13, and we collect vehicles from across the SS1 and SS2 postcode areas, including Prittlewell, plus Westcliff-on-Sea and Leigh-on-Sea. Diagnostics and an itemised quote come first, and most rebuilds are completed within 7 to 14 working days.
Look at the Coolant Colour
With the engine cold, check the coolant in the expansion tank. Brown, oily or sludgy coolant can mean oil is mixing with it, often linked to a failing oil cooler or head gasket, so mention this when booking.
A persistent knock, low oil pressure warnings or blue smoke at start-up usually mean internal wear that calls for a full Range Rover engine rebuild.
Every engine is stripped, ultrasonically cleaned, machined and rebuilt with genuine OEM parts, then pressure-tested and run under load before return to you.
Overheating, unexplained coolant loss or oily, discoloured coolant in the expansion tank are common warning signs of head gasket failure on Land Rovers.
We pressure-test the cooling system, check the cylinder heads and oil cooler, and repair before overheating causes wider engine damage.
Where a rebuild isn't economical, we supply and fit tested reconditioned engines matched precisely to your Defender's engine code.
Reconditioned units carry six months' warranty, with extended dealer-level cover of up to 24 months available.
From the seafront at Westcliff to the streets around Prittlewell, Southend owners can access specialist JLR engine care without a long drive to Grays. We collect your vehicle from home or work, complete diagnostics and repairs at our workshop, and return it once the job is signed off. Our engineers are factory-trained on Range Rover, Land Rover and Jaguar engine systems, fit genuine or OEM-grade parts and agree an itemised quote with you before work begins, with direct updates throughout.

Our Services
Beyond rebuilds and replacements, our engineers repair specific engine faults on Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Evoque, Velar, Vogue, Discovery and Defender models for drivers across Southend and south-east Essex.
Limp mode on the A127, a flashing warning light or lumpy idle in seafront traffic can stem from several faults. Our engineers combine dealer-level equipment with hands-on checks to confirm the cause, and same-day diagnostics are available on most bookings.

A few seconds of rattle on a cold start is one of the most recognised Range Rover common faults, usually caused by timing chain stretch. We replace the chains, guides and tensioners together, protecting the valves from damage.
Explore More
Reduced power, a siren-like whine under load or oily residue in the intercooler pipes can point to turbocharger failure. We investigate the oil feed, boost leaks and actuator first, so the replacement turbo is not damaged by the same fault.

Not every fault calls for a rebuild. Oil leaks, injector problems, sticking EGR valves and failed sensors can often be repaired individually, keeping costs proportionate, and every engine is tested thoroughly before your vehicle is returned to you.

A tested second-hand engine can be a sensible, cost-effective option for higher-mileage Discovery, Freelander and older Range Rover models. We confirm full compatibility with your vehicle before fitting, and every engine swap carries one month's warranty as standard.

Some earlier Land Rover engines use a timing belt that must be replaced at the manufacturer's recommended interval. We carry out scheduled and emergency belt changes, helping you avoid the bent valves and damaged pistons a snapped belt causes.
Explore More"Our Discovery 3 had sludgy coolant and was running hot on the A127. They traced it to a failed oil cooler, replaced it with a genuine part and flushed the cooling system properly before returning it."

"My Evoque's engine light came on near Leigh Broadway and the car felt hesitant. Their diagnostics showed a faulty ignition coil rather than anything internal, and they explained the readings before quoting for the repair."
Bethany Clarke
"The turbo on my Jaguar F-Pace failed unexpectedly, and I wanted a clear picture before committing. They explained the options, sent a written quote and phoned with updates rather than leaving me chasing them."
Howard Lane
"As I live in Westcliff, I didn't fancy driving a misfiring Range Rover Vogue down the A13. They collected it from outside the house and brought it back the following week with the work clearly explained."
