Independent JLR engine rebuilds and repairs, with collection from Witham, Braintree and Kelvedon.
Don't Have Reg..?
Range Rover Garage is an independent JLR specialist working only on Range Rover, Land Rover and Jaguar engines. Witham owners gain a dependable main dealer alternative, with factory-trained engineers who diagnose, rebuild and replace Ingenium, TDV6, SDV6 and TDV8 engines across Discovery, Defender, Evoque, Velar and Range Rover Sport.
Our workshop is in Grays, in south Essex, so we arrange door-to-door collection from across the CM8 postcode area, as well as Braintree, Kelvedon and Hatfield Peverel. Every job starts with full diagnostics and an itemised quote, and most rebuilds are returned within 7 to 14 working days.
Share Recent Repair Invoices
If another garage has recently worked on the engine, share those invoices when booking. Knowing which parts were replaced, and when, helps our engineers avoid repeating work and check whether an earlier repair links to the current fault.
Heavy oil consumption, a knock under acceleration or blue smoke on start-up usually indicate internal wear that requires a full Land Rover engine rebuild.
Each engine is stripped, ultrasonically cleaned, machined and rebuilt with genuine OEM parts, then pressure-tested and run under load before return to you.
A short rattle on cold mornings is one of the best-known Range Rover common faults, typically caused by a stretched timing chain or worn guides.
We replace the chains, guides and tensioners as one set, and confirm a realistic timescale for your engine after full diagnostics.
If repairs would cost more than your Defender is worth, we supply and fit tested reconditioned engines matched to its engine code.
Reconditioned units carry six months' warranty, with extended dealer-level cover of up to 24 months available.
Witham sits some distance from our Grays workshop, so our collection service saves you a long round trip with a struggling engine. We pick your vehicle up from home or work, complete diagnostics and repairs, and return it once the job is signed off. Our engineers are factory-trained on Range Rover, Land Rover and Jaguar engine systems, fit genuine or OEM-grade parts and agree an itemised quote with you before any work begins, with direct updates from our team throughout.
Collection Across Witham and CM8
Our Services
Beyond rebuilds and replacements, our engineers repair specific engine faults on Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Evoque, Velar, Vogue, Discovery and Defender models collected from across Witham and mid Essex.
Limp mode on the A12, a flashing warning light or rough running on country roads can stem from several possible faults. We combine dealer-level diagnostic equipment with hands-on checks to confirm the cause, with same-day diagnostics on most bookings.

A drop in pulling power, a high-pitched whistle or blue-grey smoke under acceleration can indicate a failing turbocharger. We check the oil supply, boost hoses and actuator before fitting a replacement, so the original fault is properly resolved.

Overheating on longer runs, coolant vanishing between top-ups or a milky residue under the oil cap can all point to head gasket failure. We pressure-test the cooling system and inspect the cylinder heads for warping before repairing the engine.

Not every engine fault requires a rebuild. Oil leaks, injector faults, sticking EGR valves and failed sensors can often be repaired individually, keeping costs proportionate, and every engine is tested thoroughly before your vehicle is returned to you.

For higher-mileage Discovery, Freelander and older Range Rover models, a tested second-hand engine can be a practical, budget-friendly choice. We confirm full compatibility with your vehicle before fitting, and every engine swap carries one month's warranty as standard.

Some earlier Land Rover engines use a timing belt that needs renewing at the manufacturer's recommended interval. We carry out scheduled and emergency belt changes, helping you avoid the bent valves and piston damage a snapped belt can cause.
Explore More"Our Discovery 4 had a recurring misfire that a previous repair hadn't cured. They traced it to a damaged injector wiring loom, replaced it with a genuine part and explained why the earlier fix hadn't lasted."
Geoff Barker
"My Velar went into limp mode on the A12 just past Hatfield Peverel. Their diagnostics found a failed throttle position sensor rather than a turbo fault, and they walked me through the data before quoting."
Melanie Shaw
"With an older Jaguar XJ, I worried a head gasket repair would spiral in cost. They explained the job honestly, stuck to the written quote and phoned before replacing a perished hose they found."
Anthony Moss
"Kelvedon is a fair way from Grays, so collection for our Freelander 2 saved a full day off work. It was picked up on the agreed morning and returned the following week with the paperwork explained."
